What Can One Person Do?
30 Days of Climate Action and Inspiration
Atmosphere got you down? Too much smoke, too much carbon dioxide? Take heart! Earth has been here before... Deja Vu
2.5 billion years ago a noxious gas –generated by some of the earliest life forms—poisoned the atmosphere. This gas even etched the rocks! It threatened all life on Earth. The story of life could have ended right then and there. The gas... was oxygen. Did life end? Obviously not. Here's what happened: Life found a way. Mitochondria were born—first as stand-alone creatures, then as a subset of other creatures. Mitochondria's innovation saved the day-- turning oxygen into fuel to further the adventure of life. Even though the odds are long, it is possible to turn things around. I find hope in the fact that Earth has been here before and thus has much to teach us. Plus, humans, and all life, can be incredibly innovative once we focus on what is important. An what other choice do we have? Give up? Day 7 ACTION: Today, find at least one reason to be hopeful and share it with someone who needs it. Perhaps it is Project Drawdown or one of the solutions you saw on the Drawdown.org website. Or maybe you are inspired by just how diverse and alive humans can be. We'll explore many more reasons for hope in the days to come. To a way forward, Denise

The day was bright and sunny - warm with a cool breeze. I was at a fund raiser for KPFZ - a concert given by MOONALICE. Amazing in so many ways. What gave me hope? Over 100 people gathered, enjoying the music, talking with one another. No violence, a sense of acceptance with all the diversity. Above all fresh air to breathe. May it ever be so!
